Sacred idol of Llongo tribe has been stolen by Loka,nephew of the Llongo chief,Phantom was deputed to find the thief and the idol.How Phantom finds the idol and thief forms the matter of the comic.It was reprinted back in 1987 as "Curse of the Sacred Idol".Vol.24.No.49.

ReplyDeleteThanks Buddy for posting these gems. I remember Bal Bharti. It used to publich this one comic called Kapish at the end of the magazine. Though Bal Bharti is still in publication but its contents are not as attractive as they used to be. Kapish also appeared in Tinkle Digest though for certain strange reasons it was never published in mainstream magazine. Some other magazines which are mainly of text matters also carried such features notably Nanhe Samrat which along with JJB of Sukhwant also carried his Murkhistan which is also very hillarous somewhat on the line of features of Diwana. It is still in publication and reminds me of old golden days. Its contents nowadays are 70% similar to its old contents. Nowadays it is also publishing a feature called Darubaz which is illustrated by Native ( of Mundu Khayali Ram of MM, Paropkariji of Diwana fame). It was a very pleasant surprise for me when I came across feastures of these vintage illustrators in the most recent issue of Nanhe Samrat.(September 2008). If you can please see them.
ReplyDeleteWhile giving introduction of Native I forgot the mention the name if its most popular character i.e. hold your breath Daku Paan Singh of MM. (Though sometimes one Murli also illustrated it. I do not know whether Murli and Native are one or two different persons.

ReplyDeleteChandamama etc,but still it holds a place of its own in comic history.
The only comics article published in Bal Bharti wiz:Kapish was similar to the Kaliya Kaowa of Tinkle,hence it was not encouraged to publish two similar them article in same magazine.
Yeah,Nanhe Samrat also used to fascinate me since its inception because of Murkhistan,JJB and other comic articles.
Murli was the illustrator of Daku Paan Singh and other small comic features,i.e.Mundu Khyaliraam and Paropkari Ji.Previously in these articles the name 'Murli' was credited for illustrations and if now 'Native' is being credited then i m sure both are the same person.

Dara: If this story is compared to other Falk stories then it seems to be somewhat lesser,it support some kind of superstition too,and overall Phantom doesn't have the main protagonist 'role' in the story.

Can you name/discuss on those such stories from Falk's pen which you didn't liked much.!!!

Yea Kapish! I have a few of the Raj Comics comics also, and while in Hyderabad I had a roommate who was a veritable encyclopedia on Nagaraj, Super Commando Dhruva, etc.
