# 5th Anniversary Post
In 2007,debut year of the blog,a total of 87 posts were posted in a span of one year in which mostly were Indrajal comics and that too dual version of a single issue. After arrival of 2008 several other comic blogs came into existence too with a purpose of sharing Indrajal comics as a result the no. of posts reduced to 43 in its 2nd year.
The depletion of limited quota of 803 IJC at a quick rate made me think that what will be the future of blog after all IJC issues will be posted ! This concern made me to switch over to other non-IJC comics and my passion associated with comics in general made me to discuss/post more and more about comics, novels, magazine which added a variety and difference to this blog. The posting frequency, though, decreased but the colors and variations did certainly added.
In the meantime i steered towards my other passion movies also which prompted me to prepare posts on movies like SHOLAY,talented but defunct directors and popular film magazines too which was appreciated by all of you.
Once moved away from mere comic posting it further disinterested me to post comic links only and i started looking upon any such opportunity which inspired me to discuss/share something meaningful along with comic links, thus trading of with the posting frequency. The no. of post per year reduced further but selectivity and variety increased accordingly.
Of late i discovered the opportunity of doing something that which i was longing from a long time,i.e.,discussing in detail about the comparative study between original Phantom strips and published Indian comic books over these strips such as Indrajal and Diamond comics.
These comparative analysis were also liked and quite appreciated by all of you to my satisfaction and served as a inspiring force behind another dream project of mine,i.e.,conversion of all non-Indrajal Phantom strips in Hindi, about which more i will discussing in coming paragraphs.
The blog which was initiated to revive and rekindle passion for Indrajal comics in particular ignited the passion for comics in general and morphed me into a avid comic collector of bygone comics beginning with Indrajal comics and followed by manoj chitra katha,
diamond, chitrbharti, kiran, star comics, amar chitra katha etc to name a few.
Days, months and years passed resulting in growing up of my collection which time to time i did displayed in several posts too.
During the 5 year journey of this blog it happened to interact with finest passionate comic collector/readers all over the world. In beginning the regular visitors were mainly the IJC lover and collectors like Ajay Misra,ICC,TPH,Chandan,Sagnik,Col.Worobu,Bala,Anurag Dixit etc to name a few,and when the focus shifted to comics, magazines and novels in general then avid comic readers like Kuldeep jain,Arun,Lalit,Vijat Kr.Sappatti,Anand emerged with their appreciative knowledge base and nostalgic writing skills.
One of the major achievement during this journey proved to be the mentioning of Comic World in Indian leading daily The Hindustan Times which highlighted and appreciated the different nature and quality of this blog.
Since then the journey is still ON despite of daily life hectic schedule and other priorities of life but missing certainly that much level of enthusiasm which was earlier, anyway lets see till when this journey could be continued through this blog.
So,after the preface lets begin this special anniversary post welcoming all of you by a comicoanalysis of a Indrajal comic which was the main inspiring force behind the formation of the blog.
This comic,'Dayalu Pret'(IJC No.321) is scanned, analysed and posted by a dear friend and fantastic comic lover cum collector Vishal Sharma in his unique posting style which is similar to a poet singing heroic ballads.
For his unmatched style of posting all credit for this comic along with a heartfelt thanks goes to him.

To start the celebrations, let me present another one of my dear and close friend Kuldeep Bhai who is eager to welcome all of you. Here are his words right away.
"Hello every one..My welcome greeting to you all and thanks everyone for joining us to celebrate another wonderful anniversary of this blog. This blog is not a website like millions others available on internet but it is a place where we see a pristine pond filled with warm memories of our childhood and we all want to jump to feel the old days when we were care free, pure hearted and dreamed to do something big.. Welcome all.. jump and feel the joy, happiness and lets promise ourselves that we will keep on filling this pond with our thoughts, appreciation, knowledge sharing, old memories so that more and more will be joining us in coming days to make this place the only 'mecca'/'Kumbh' of Comics world .. On this blog we have seen so many wonder ful post(Sholay,Hindi novels, satyakatha, bal pocket books, comics artist, writers....).. so many old thoughts ('par-tilli' , comics reading in Lantern light, efforts took to get comics...) we met so many wonder ful people who have such vast knowledge on comics, collection and we learned a lot about comics, comic culture ,reading habits in India and around the world. So much have been shared, posted so far and amazing part is that ' we want more' what best could happen to this blog other than this that instead of quenching the fire it is making it more and more big like adding more fuel (with every new post.) we have shown our appreciation to 'Zaheer bhai' so many time and on this occasion I salute his great work again on behalf of all of us and congratulate him again on 3rd anniversary of 'Comic world'.
Lage raho Zaheer bhai ... and Yes.. ALL IZZZ WELL.. keep it rolling.. Have a wonder ful time friends.. Kuldeep
As you all know about Kuldeep Bhai that he is living encyclopedia of comics,he has vast-vast treasure of knowledge and nostalgic moments attached with comics which he regularly keeps on sharing with all of us in his unique and unmatched style of words of which we all are fond of.If topic comes about Ved Prakash Sharma then he is simply unmatched and a living data base of his novels...simply mind blowing...i have never seen a passionate comic reader and lover as he is....and talking about his human side,he is a good human and friends of friend. How many of us can send quite a costly comics to a person with whom we don't have that much of 'terms' and acquaintance and that also without expecting any thing in return!!!Truly,a most humble attitude which is highly appreciated.
Kuldeep Bhai, many thanks for your kind and warm feeling toward this blog,i hope to see you all along with this blog like you are.As a small token of gift here is that ad page of unpublished novel of Ved Prakash Sharma which you were looking for.Hope you will like it.

#Comic No.136 & 137:Munshi Premchand
His stories mainly depicted the problems of ordinary peasants and common man such as corruption, communalism, debt, poverty etc in a very simple and effective language. Before Premchand Indian story telling was confined mainly to King-Queen and fantasy sort of stories,it was he who brought the canvas of his stories to the problems of common man and ground realities.
His work was also appreciated in film industry and quite a few movies were made on his stories/novels such as "Mazdoor(1934),Seva Sadan(1938),Gaban(1966),Godan(1963),
Shantranj Ke Khiladi(1977)".
Gaurav Gatha publications acknowledged his work by rendering out a comic on him, which is being presented here. His stories can be read online from a blog devoted specially on him,Munshi Premchand blog.

# C.M.Vitankar & Vichitra Anguthi
Though C.M.Vitankar designed covers for both ACK and MCK but the cover designed by him for MCK were far superior than those for ACKs.The reason behind this was the liberty of colors which MCK allowed to give a paint like look on thick paper whereas ACK used limited colors and thin paper for covers.
Information about C.M.Vitankar is very limited and hard to find as he left this world 10 years from now, only available information about him is that he was from Ahmadnagar and later settled his base in Mumbai.
Cover designed by him for MCKs were very impressive and imparted a attractive painted look on beautifully drawn images. Many of times a comic felt more attractive due to the cover page by C.M.Vitankar rather than its story content.
Have a look at some of the covers by C.M.Vitankar for MCKs.

(Cover courtesy:Ajay Misra,Sajid and Comic World)
(Information courtesy:Alok)
Have a detailed look at the cover page of 'Murkh Kumhaar',the single page narrates itself the whole story of the comic, notice the expressions of teacher, pottery maker and donkey..how beautifully each face has been rightly decorated with its expressions, simply unmatched!
Also notice the scary and amused look at the lion's face in 'Teesmarkhan',isn't it superb!! C.M.Vitankar's covers were best suited for folk and fairy tales as his style of drawing,
selection of colors and the design of character's clothes were most effective and attractive for such plots.
I am very much eager to know more about him,if anyone is having more information about him then please do share with all of us.
Presenting herewith another comic having superb cover by C.M.Vitankar,enjoy it and can anyone tell who is the illustrator of this comic!!

Presenting another comic,a Fauladi Singh, from the treasure of Deep.

Any takers of this Tarzan comic from Kiran comics!!One funny ancedote associated with Tarzan comics,at the tender age of around 5 or 6 years when i first read Tarzan comics and the name of his creator 'Edgar Rice Burroughs' somehow i was confused by such a long and different name and interpreted it as 'Edgar' who borrows Rice, thus combining it to form 'Edgar Rice Burroughs',for a long time i kept this interpretation in mind and now laughs at myself whenever read this name "Edgar Rice Burroughs".
