Friends today's post consist of two vintage issue of Manoj Chitra Katha which were in big format and with old logo.Unfortunately both stories were not written by Bimal Chatterji due to which the story part is a little weak of specially nagrani ke kundal whereas the story of Khooni Haar is written by Ansar Akhtar(Nanha Jasoos Bablu fame) which is quite interesting.

Friends, why is so that these new comics fails to interconnect one as those old comics use to do a long way back, why we can't identify ourselves with the story line of these current comics, why these comic doesn't excites us though those old comics still recreate the magic of which we are fond of.
Recently came across with a latest set of Raj Comics which were quite costly, colorful printing, nice glossy pages, quite attractive cover designs.I started to read with a new ignited hope but couldn't read more than 9-10 pages as the soul of comic, the story miserably failed to attract me,this superhero concept, unnatural villains, unconvincing plot and excessive use of modern(imaginary) gadgets all was such that i am wandering into a alien land and watching a alien animated movie.
These surviving publication houses give a huge hue and cry over the declining comic business/culture in India but hardly they give a thought over the quality of their product, they also fail to understand that what a common Indian comic reader want to read.
If these publication house can sense the nerve of a common comic reader then might be we can see another revamping period of comics.
For eg. lets read this comic 'Gulivar Bauno Ke Desh Me',though its a fantasy/fictional story but see its quality, illustrations and presentation..simply unmatched and close to common comic reader nerve.

First of all a very Happy Independence Day to all Indians.Lets now celebrate our independence by reading those comics which we read for the first time when we were really free...yes,when we were free from tension of livelihood, when we were free from the tension of 'projects',when we were free from the tyranny of 'Boss',when we were free from the daily chikh-chikh of wife, when we free from the tensions of converting 99 into 100,when we were free from the tensions of maintaining day-to-day life, when we were free from the worries of making our 'own' house, when the air was much purer than what we breath in now, when the sunlight was much clearer than its now, when the independence and republic day meant one more holiday and sweets from school, when paradise seems to be located in comics, movies,T.V and summer vacations, when Sunday morning means 'Rangoli' and Thursday evening meant a feature film on Doordarshan, when rainy day meant a another probable holiday from school.

When it was announced by Hermes Press last year that they will print all Lee Falk written Phantom Dailies and Sundays in full color, from then the first volume(1936-37) of the series was being eagerly awaited by Phantom phans all over the world.
This very first volume was released in March-April this year but in India till May it was not available within reasonable price range which could be afforded by an average Indian reader. Its cheaper(around Rs.1400-1500/-) version can now be procured through online shopping sites such as flipkart, infibeam etc.

Friends Happy Belated Christmas wishes and advance Happy New Year 2010 wishes to all of you.
I am happy that Comic Market has got a encouraging and warm welcome from all of you and i hope it will prove to serve that greater purpose for which it has been introduced and that can be achieved only when more and more comic collectors will participate in it and put comic trade offers.
Hence to make the process easy and smooth i ask comic collectors/lovers who wish to make offers on Comic Market to come forward and i will be granting them posting rights on Comic Market so that they can make their offers directly by posting on blog rather than my being a medium to do so.
Interested persons please let me know along with their mail id so that i can grant them authorship rights.
Well, the first comic of this post is 'The Missing Virus X',a Corrigan comic published in 1973 by AFI comics for New World Publication of Mumbai,a unknown Indian publication.I have no more information about this publication, its publications and character details. If anybody have more information about it then please share.
Highlights of this comic are superb illustrations with well depicted story,i have never read a better Corrigan story than this though my scope of Corrigan comics is limited to Indrajal comics only where its comics were so-so regarding quality.

In India Superman and Batman comics were introduced by Dolton Comics(Chennai) in 1982,which used to publish them bilingually(English/Hindi) fortnightly.I was a avid reader of Hindi Dolton comics during mid 80's but the word to word Hindi translation of the English version proved a setback for Hindi version and at a later stage Hindi version doesn't used to appeal me that much as it used to initially.
Here is the very first issue of Superman/Batman of Dolton Comics for all of you.

As we have discussed earlier many times that Manoj Chitra Katha were no doubt the best to produce comics with best attractive covers in initial phase with the help of brilliant cover artist C.M.Vitankar,though Vitankar also designed cover for Amar Chitra Katha but there the cover quality was much inferior if compared with those of MCK.The credit goes to Vitankar,no doubt, but along with him the layout and printing quality of MCK also deserve credit.
One such comic with brilliant cover by C.M.Vitankar is presented here for all of you.Its a hilarious comic with superb script by Bimal Chatterji and befitting illustrations by Jitendra Bedi or Bedi as popularly known.
Comic consists of three short stories all very entertaining and a joy to read. The base of these stories were stories from Alif Laila or Arabian Nights from where Bimal Chatterji might have drawn inspiration.I remember in my childhood, long before MCKs were started,my maternal uncle use to tell me the stories from Arabian Nights, and all the stories in this comic i have heard long back from him.

In a recent comic hunt i got hold of few Madhumuskans,a cover of few of them are here for all of you.Madhumuskan was also a successful product from a glorious publication house from Delhi.

Cover of this particular Madhumuskan i found much funny, hence scanned it for all of you.Its stories are also very entertaining.

Col.Worobu and Kuldeep, here are your requested comics, scanned, cleaned, compressed and posted in result of your cordial requests.
Col. this Tarzan is not a Indian Edition but its appearance is quite similar to Indian 'Kiran Comics'.Its illustrations are of high quality as well as story too.
Kuldeep,'Heere Ka Chirag' is the reprinted version of its original in 'Old is Gold' series in which Manoj Comics use to republish old hit issues but without their original covers which took away the charm from them as covers by C.M.Vitankar were a joy to watch.Anyway the inside story by Chatterji is same and is quite entertaining.Hope you will enjoy it once again.
