 दोस्तों,प्रस्तुत है एक और रोमांचक दुभागीय वेताल कथा आप सब की खिदमत में जो की एक बार फिर वेताल वृतांतों से ली गई है और इस बार इस कथा में फ़ाल्क बता रहे हैं की कैसे सिकंदर का हीरे का प्याला वेताल के वृहद कोषागार में आया.

ये कथा और एक वजह से भी महत्व रखती है और वो है इस कथा में 'भारतवर्ष' का जिक्र होना,वैसे तो वेताल कथा में भारत का जिक्र होना कोई नयी बात नहीं है क्योंकि फ़ाल्क ने शुरू में वेताल का घर भारत में ही सोचा था और शुरुआत की सभी कहानियां भारत के शहरों 'मद्रास,बॉम्बे,कलकत्ता' आदि में ही घटित हुई थी,पर इंद्रजाल कॉमिक्स ने अतिरिक्त कुटनीतिक सतर्कता दिखाते हुए किसी भी विवाद को टालने के मंशा से संवादों आदि में कांट-छांट की जिससे की भारत से जुडाव किसी भी कथा में प्रतीत न हो,जैसे की 'बंगाला' को 'डंगाला' कर दिया,'The Belt' कथा में समुंद्री लुटेरे 'रामा' को 'रामालु' कर दिया गया था,यहाँ तक की इस कथा में भी 'India' को बदल के 'Xenia' कर दिया गया है.बहरहाल,वापस कथा पर लौटते हैं,ऐसे बदलावों के बारे में हम आगे और पढ़ेंगे.

# वाकुल दुर्ग का रहस्य

दोस्तों प्रस्तुत है वेताल के सबसे ज़्यादा लोमहर्षक कथाओं में से एक "वाकुल दुर्ग का रहस्य" जो की इंद्रजाल कॉमिक्स द्वारा 1980 में प्रकाशित की गई थी.

इस कॉमिक की ख़ास बात ये है की या एकलौती ऐसी Swedish कहानी है जिसने इंद्रजाल कॉमिक्स के पन्नो में जगह पाई,और दूसरी बात,ये उन चंद कथाओं में से एक है जो ली-फाल्क की कलम से जन्म न लेने के बावजूद रोमांच और स्तर में किसी भी दूसरी फाल्क वेताल-कथा से पीछे नहीं है.
ऐतिहासिक घटनाओ की पृष्ठभूमि में कहानी बुनने की फाल्क की ख़ासियत का लेखक 'नॉर्मन वर्कर' ने भी अनुसरण किया है और कार्पेटिया एवं ऑस्ट्रिया के बीच हुई जंग के कैनवस पर इस कहानी में रंग भरे हैं.

कथा कुछ ऐसे शुरू होती है,ऑस्ट्रिया ने जबरन कार्पेटिया को कब्ज़ाये रखा है,बाद में बोस्निया एवं हर्ज़ेगोविना को कब्ज़े में लेने की लिए कार्पेटिया से सैनिक बुलाये जाते हैं,मौका देख कर स्थानीय अवाम पुराने शासक एवं वाकुल दुर्ग के मालिक काउंट स्टायरबाश के नेतृत्व में विद्रोह कर देती है जिसको कुचलने के लिए कार्पेटिया व ऑस्ट्रिया के मध्य युद्ध होता है.मैदान काउंट के हाथ आता है पर भीषण लड़ाई और काफी नुकसान के बाद,घायलों और कमज़ोर सैनिकों को लूटने के लिए अंतर्राष्ट्रीय मुजरिम संगठन 'गिद्ध' नज़रें गड़ाए बैठा था पर इस बार गिद्ध के मंसूबे कुछ और ही थे,बुरी तरह थके सैनिकों और घायल काउंट की अवस्था का फायदा उठा कर गिद्ध का मुखिया ब्लैक बोरिस एक खुनी योजना को अंजाम देकर काउंट की जगह ले बैठता है.स्थानीय अवाम पर काउंट के ज़ुल्म हद पार कर जाते हैं,जनता त्राहि-त्राहि कर बैठती है.इस अत्याचारी से कैसे छुटकारा पाया जाये ये विचारने के लिए महापौर के घर बैठक होती है और उसमे ज़िक्र छिड़ता है वेताल का जिसने पूर्व में कभी स्टायरबाश परिवार के किसी सदस्य के मदद की थी एवं जिसका सुरक्षा चिन्ह वाकुल दुर्ग के दरवाज़े पर चिन्हित था,नतीजतन वेताल से मदद की गुहार लगायी जाती है,और जैसा की आशा थी वेताल(मौजूदा वेताल के दादा) का आगमन होता है और कैसे वो वाकुल दुर्ग को गिद्ध के आतंक से मुक्ति दिलाता है ये सब खुद ही जानिए इस सनसनीखेज चित्रकथा में.

वेताल-वृतांतों में से ली गई कथाएँ हमेशा सामान्य से अधिक रोमांचक एवं रोचक रही हैं इसी तथ्य को भुनाया है लेखक 'वर्कर' ने और इसमें सहयोग दिया है प्रतिभाशाली चित्रकार 'जैमे वाल्व' ने जिनके चित्र वेताल की शख्सियत को वही रहस्यमयी प्रभाव प्रदान करते हैं को कभी मूर के चित्र किया करते थे.

'गिद्ध' एक प्रभावशाली वेताल-खलनायक रहा है जो सर्वप्रथम नज़र आया था डेली स्ट्रिप न.114(The Vultures) में पर अचरज की बात ये है की फ़ाल्क ने कभी 'गिद्ध' को दोहराया नहीं,वैसे फ़ाल्क ने बहुत कम ही खलनायकों को दोहराया है और गिद्ध भी कोई अपवाद नहीं,पर स्वीडिश कथाकारों ने मशहूर खलनायकों का अच्छा इस्तेमाल किया है एवं कई रोचक कहानियां प्रस्तुत की हैं.

फ़ाल्क के उपजाऊ दिमाग में विचारों की कभी कोई कमी नहीं रही इसलिए उन्होंने पुराने खलनायकों को दोहराने की बजाये हमेशा नए-नए खलनायकों को पेश करने को ही तरजीह दी,हालाँकि कई ऐसे पुराने खलनायक रहे हैं जिनकी वापसी काफी धमाकेदार हो सकती थी पर फ़ाल्क का नज़रिया शायद दूसरा ही था.जिन खलनायक किरदारों को फ़ाल्क ने दोहराया है उन्हें उँगलियों पर गिना जा सकता है जैसे की 'ताराकिमो,टेरर,कुला कु’.

अगर फ़ाल्क चाहते तो गिद्ध को भी उसी रोमांचक रूप पेश करते रहते जिस तरह अष्टांक को उन्होंने मैन्ड्रेक के सदाबहार खलनायक के रूप में प्रस्तुत किया,अष्टांक और विषधर ही एकमात्र ऐसे खलनायक रहे जिनसे मैन्ड्रेक की मुठभेड़ कई बार दोहराई गयी और अंत में ये दोनों एक ही व्यक्ति निकले.अजीब बात है की मैन्ड्रेक के लिए उन्होंने खलनायकों को दोहराने से परहेज़ नहीं किया पर वेताल के लिए उनका नज़रिया कुछ अलग ही रहा.

खैर,बात करते है मौजूदा कॉमिक की,इस कहानी की खासियतों में कसी हुई स्क्रिप्ट,चुस्त संवाद और कमाल के चित्र शामिल है,खासतौर से दुसरे भाग का मुखपृष्ठ जो की निश्चय ही इंद्रजाल कॉमिक्स के सबसे आकर्षक कवर्स में से एक है.

ज़रा गौर फरमाइए इस कवर पर,फ्रंट में वेताल की गंभीर मुखमुद्रा वाला ब्लोअप,आगे गरजती हुई तोपें और पीछे आग की लपटों से बनती हुई अक्षर 'V' की शक्ल जिसमे गिद्ध उड़ रहे है..वाह,कमाल की सोच को चित्रों द्वारा जीवंत किया है आर्टिस्ट 'जैमे वाल्व' ने!

प्रथम भाग के कवर को तो स्वर्गीय गोविन्द जी ने तैयार किया था पर द्वितीय भाग के कवर को मुझे नहीं लगता की किसी दूसरे आर्टिस्ट ने तैयार किया होगा बल्कि कॉमिक के सबसे आखिरी पैनल को ही कवर का रूप दे दिया गया है जो की बिलकुल उचित निर्णय था.

FREW द्वारा इस कथानक को सामान्य 32 प्रष्ट के फॉर्मेट में प्रकाशित किया था पर इंद्रजाल ने इसे दो भागो में प्रकाशित किया था,हालाँकि FREW द्वारा किसी भी पैनल की कांट-छांट नहीं की गई थी पर उनके आकार में ज़रूर बदलाव किया गया था 32 पृष्ठ में कहानी को समेटने के लिए लेकिन इंद्रजाल ने पूरी भव्यता एवं सम्मानजनक तरीके से इस कहानी को दो शानदार भागों में पाठकों से सामने रखा.

Indrajal comics no.51,'Samundri Daku' was posted by me on mega Indrajal comics blog "Indrajal on line" on 2nd May. 

    

But this was not an ordinary post where comic lovers can simply download comic,say formal thanks and forget about the post,rather they were forced to tickle their brains in order to download the comic as the download file was password protected,the password was hidden in a quiz and solution of the quiz was itself the d/l password.

# Dharamyug

'Times of India' group have been a renowned name among the oldest major publication houses of India.It has produced a wide variety of magazines and comics suiting to the taste of all age groups such as Indrajal comics and Parag for children,Filmfare and Madhuri for movie buffs,Sarika for younger generation,Femina for women,The Illustrated Weekly of India for English literary loving readership and Dharamyug for Hindi readership.
IWI and Dharamyug both magazines use to deal with current affairs along with fine articles on other popular topics such as sports,cinema,T.V. etc.
In this post i will be talking something about Dharamyug which came in publication in the year 1950 to target the Hindi readership as after independence reading culture and specially Hindi/Urdu reading culture was all set to become the prime time pass of Indian mass in parallel with Hindi cinema.
It was surprising to find that no formal and relevant information about Dharamyug was available anywhere over net,hence in this respect Comic World is the first site to throw at-least some light on this fabulous but extincted magazine of yesteryear.

# Tribute To Shehab Ji

From a long time i was longing for a snap and other details about Shehab Ji as about him very less information is available even with his close associates such as Pran,Hussain Zamin etc.
Though in a previous post Alok Bhai has already given some precious information about Shehab Ji but after coming across his first snap of any kind i felt to dedicate one more post on him along with some more details about him.
Recently Anupam Bhai provided some of the rare information about Shehab Ji as well as other artists in this post,from this very post we at least got an opportunity to view Shehab Ji's lone snap up till now and some more information about him that he was from Allahabad and his famous creation Chotu-Lambu was being published in Parag from 1958.
We also came to know that Shehab Ji's lived a very struggled life and even worked as a carpenter to earn his living in his childhood as his parents died when he was a child only and due to poor condition he wasn't able to study after 10th.This struggle and poverty clearly reflects in his cartoons and characters very well.
Shehab Ji started his career with 1/2 page cartoon space and later on he was assigned by Diamond comics publication to create a full 32 page comic of Chotu-Lambu.
Shehab Ji holds some of the glorious creations like Manglu Madari-Bandar Bihari,Chimpu,
Chaman Charlie behind him.His cartoon used to be a simple characters which uses the day-to-day happenings to turn in humorous situations.Though Shehab Ji excelled in both 1/2 page and 32 page comic format but personally i felt that he was better in 1 or 2 page space rather than a full 32 page comic.

His USP was to portray a full humorous situation without the use of dialogues,he excellently generated sharp humor in his creation Chimpu(Indrajal comics)in the absence of any sort of dialogues using only the sign language,here one can easily find a striking similarity with Charlie Chaplin's mute comedy.
Perhaps Shehab Ji was greatly inspired by Chaplin's methodology as later on he created a character called 'Chaman Charlie',clearly inspired by Charlie Chaplin.

# Shaheed Bhagat Singh

23rd March is remembered as 'Martyrs Day' or Shaheed Diwas in Indian History as on this day in 1931 young revolutionist Sardar Bhagat Singh,Rajguru and Sukhdev were hanged by then British government of India. Born on 27th September 1907 in Lyallpur,Punjab,Bhagat Singh was only 23 when he sacrificed his life for the country during his fight for the freedom of India.
To salute the spirit of freedom here are few rare original photographs of this legendary son of Indian soil for all of you which are collected from different-different unidentified sources over the net for which thanks to all of them.

# Abid Ji Live & Sunday-170

As many of you must be already knowing but still it was not confirmed before but now it has been confirmed as you can hear from creator itself.Yes,'Bahadur' is all set to make a comeback after 20 years and this time from the pen of its original creator Abid Surti.
Today only AlokBhai(Chitrakatha fame) met this legendary comic creator and in this meet it was unfolded by Abid Ji that Bahadur is very soon to make its comeback probably for online reading where readers can read it for free or for a very nominal fee.
Abid Ji give some hints about his diversion from TOI and about the copyright issues for Bahadur,he is pretty confident that all rights are with him since he is the sole creator of it but its also thinkable that if this was the case then why TOI kept on publishing Bahadur even after unpleasant break-up with Abid Ji and despite his protests.
Lets hope for the best that Bahadur should be able to make a comeback soon.So here is Alok live with Abid Ji who talks about his new book and off course about revival of Bahadur.

# Madhuri

'The Times of India' publication holds a glorious history of being the oldest and a major baton of the Indian print media from a period spanning more than 170 years.
This publication gave us many cherished magazines covering all major readership areas such as The Illustrated Weekly Of India,Dharamyug,Filmfare,Femina to name a few and comics such as Indrajal comics.
Along with Filmfare,which covers up Indian Film Industry,there was another one such magazine quenching the thirst of Indian Hindi readers and that was Madhuri.
Madhuri was a fortnightly started in 1964 and carried up to late 80' after which it was rechristened as 'Hindi Fimfare' and that too ultimately ceased publishing in early 90's.
Madhuri used to be a class magazine avoiding usual gossips which were the regular feature of the Indian Hindi film based magazines of that time.It was associated with some of the finest writers,compilers and editors of Hindi cinema print media such as Isaac Mujawar,Raju Bharatan,Vinod Tiwari,Rauf Ahmad,Harish Raghuvanshi,Firoz Rangoonwala,Vishwas Nerurkar and others.
I was a great fan of Madhuri though i have read very few issues of it and later read mostly 'Hindi Filmfare' in early 90's.The features,articles,printing and page quality of Madhuri were of high class and simply unmatched by any of other Hindi film magazine till now.
its surprising that there is no information available about Madhuri on net,sites such as Wikipedia have no information about Madhuri.I have tried to provide at least brief information about it without going into deeper details.
