# EID Mubaraq & Arabic Indrajals

Friends and comic lovers of all world a very warm wishes of Eid to all of you,may the peace, prosperity and good health be showered upon you on this auspicious day for forever.

Friends, though Indrajal comics were published in a no. of Indian languages i.e.Hindi,English,
Marathi,Bengali,Tamil,Telgu,Kannada,Gujrati etc but i was unaware of the fact that they were also published in Arabic, which is quite uncommon,as in India Arabic is not a so common language where any publication might think to publish in it regarding commercial and financial interests.

But recently due to a friend,Ahmed, from Yemen i came to know that some of the issues of Indrajal comics were also published in Arabic. There is no information with me that exactly how many and from which issue Indrajal comics were published in Arabic,if anyone have more information on it please share with us.
With the help of Ahmed i got access to digital version of some of the Arabic Indrajals which are being presented here for all of you with many thanks to Ahmed.

Eid Mubarak to you and your family too, Zaheer Bhai. What a blockbuster post, to mark the occassion, and surely a right one.

Never knew, IJC was published in Arabic too, not even a rumour like Andreas have heard. Certainly the ppl at the helm of IJC, had thought so good to have their presence among all sect of Indian kids, to base them in the languages, which don't have a majority in the public.

Thanks to Ahmed of Yemen, for letting us know about this landmark issues, and also satisfying the appetite by letting us see the inner pages in full, along with the covers. Thanks a ton, guys.

By the way Zaheer Bhai, counting the Arab IJC's may be a harder task, But any idea how many langauges did IJC ever publish in, and the list of them ?

And your next post announcement, makes it waiting for me. Bring it on Sooner.

The "rumor" as I called it was that I found the Arabic Indrajal listed here https://rni.nic.in at the Registrar of Newspapers for India.

Thanks for the info, Andreas. Never knew our own site, that too owned by a govt. agency, is so updated :)

Yes,all thanks to Ahmed for letting us discover this precious information about Arabic IJCs.
Till now it has been also found out that Arabic IJCs were started from March 77' and were published along a monthly schedule, but, its not known a total of how many issues were published.Lets hope to find complete information in near future.
As far as my information is concerned IJCs were use to publish in English,Hindi,Bengla,Marathi,
Gujrati,Tamil,Telgu,Kannada,Malyalam and Arabic.Hope i am not missing any language.

KK: Thanks KK.

Why are you guys saying 'arabic'. Its URDU. A language spoken widely by the Muslim population in India and Pakistan Its an INDIAN language, although script may resemble Persian-Arabic. But these Indrajals are NOT ARABIC by any stretch of imagination. These comics are meant for the Urdu speaking population of India. Check out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urdu

Andreas said...

I cannot tell if this is Arabic or Urdu, however the editorial notice in each issue states (in English) that it is "Arabic". So, if that is wrong the confusion starts with the publisher's own statement of language.

Comic World said...

Phantomlover: My dear friend the language is not Urdu but its Arabic.Script of both is almost same but grammar, vocabulary and way of pronunciation is totally different. As a analogy its just like Sanskrit and Hindi, where script is same but all other things are totally different.
I can say this because i can read/speak/write Urdu but can only read and up to a lesser extent can understand Arabic.
I am puzzled that for which readers did TOI published IJCs in Arabic as in India that time Arabic speaking population was negligible.
According to 2001 census there were a total of 50,000 arabic speaking population allover India ,and if 1970 decade is considered then this figure was less than 10,000,which was very less in every respect considering commercial and financial aspects of a comic publication.

Emile.

PS: I wrote a software and create data to have "instant" informations about Indrajal Comics (only the english version have been collected and tested). In comparing front covers and checking the drawings ) because I do not read middle-east arabic - I was able to get the informations in less time than their download time!

I hope to being able to upload a version soon on zshare (both MacOS X and Windows XP and later versions).
