# Tarzan with Heere Ka Chirag

Col.Worobu and Kuldeep, here are your requested comics, scanned, cleaned, compressed and posted in result of your cordial requests.
Col. this Tarzan is not a Indian Edition but its appearance is quite similar to Indian 'Kiran Comics'.Its illustrations are of high quality as well as story too.
Kuldeep,'Heere Ka Chirag' is the reprinted version of its original in 'Old is Gold' series in which Manoj Comics use to republish old hit issues but without their original covers which took away the charm from them as covers by C.M.Vitankar were a joy to watch.Anyway the inside story by Chatterji is same and is quite entertaining.Hope you will enjoy it once again.

Belated diwali wishes to you & family. That's an excellent drawing of Tarzan and Tantor. Tantor looks so aggressive yet graceful. One of the best I've seen.

Diwali wishes to everyone!

Thank you CW for posting my request. This is a Russ Manning Sunday strip. Russ Manning is one of the all time great Tarzan illustrators. Dark Horse released a series of his work recently.

Please continue to post this particular series whenever you get a chance. I really appreciate the hard work. I used to collect this series in the 70's. The same publisher also used to publish "Fox and Crow", "Laurel & Hardy" series in the same format. I remember the pages to be of really good quality.

I have to register my protest. How come my name is missing from the list of demand makers? :-)

Please try to increase the page size. It should be at least 1000 pixels wide ideally.

Appreciate the effort.

p.s. - Just downloaded and saw the scans. Its awesome. The pictures, the coloring, everything is perfect. Thanks

Thanks CW..

Tarzan was never my favourite.. i did read some Laurel n Hardy but for a very shor period. though I enjoyed the Tv serial during Doordarshan days's..

Heere ka Chirag is one of the memorable comic and its story line was great. I was hoping that 'shankar-gurughantal' will appear in other comics ( as the story ends with this hint) but sadly that was the only comics.
i really miss mashnilal-afimilal, manku jhanku as well..

CW one question i had in my mind to ask you.. you know the bollywood character actor 'om-prakash ? what happened to him ? he is died or retired ? i didnot heard of him since long?

Col.Worobu: Welcome Col.I took this comic from a old book shop due to its impressive cover and illustrations only, normally i avoid taking Indian Tarzan comics as i have quite a lot of them, but while flipping through comics at that shop this comic caught my attention and i took it impressed by its illustrations.
Recently a Australian friend who is having a good collection of Russ Manning Tarzan comics has agreed to scan and provide them here for all of you.So be assured, more such Tarzan will be hitting the blog in near future.

TPH: Your protest is valid, accepted :o)

Kuldeep Jain: Welcome Kuldeep Bhai.Initially Tarzan was also not among my favorite characters because of their not so impressive stories and quite ordinary translation chosen by Kiran comics, but later when i came across few non-Indian Tarzan comics my perception about him changed. As these non-Indian Tarzan publications contains high quality illustrations a well as story line too.
I have few Manju-Jhanku,will be posting them.
'Om Prakash Bakshi' is now no more as already informed by KK.Om Prakash started his career as Hero in late 40's and later came to known as a superb character and comedian.Who can forget 'Munshi Ji' of 'Sharabi'(84) or 'Jija Ji' of 'Chupke-Chupke'(75).
I remember Om Prakash was the owner of best Cinema Theater in my city which he later gifted to her daughter in her marriage who was married to a guy of my city. That theater is still the best theater of my city.

KK: Thanks for information buddy.Well,me too was thinking to render a post on these great stalwarts of Hindi Cinema on memorable dates associated with them.
Certainly,will plan something concrete soon.

Actually all the Russ Manning illustrated Gold Key & DC Tarzan comics are already scanned and are widely available on the web as torrents. All the Daily strips are available as well, but the Sunday strips aren't.

The Gold Key Manning issues were Manning's adaptations of ERB's original Tarzan Novels, and they are really terrific. Dark Horse is reissuing these in handsome volumes. The daily and sunday strips were Manning's original stories, and had no connection with the novels. The DC issues printed some selected Daily and Sunday strips by Manning.

The book that you have posted here and the series that is belongs to are not yet available on the net. I think Kiran got the rights to publish this series directly in India later on. Also the Vidyarthi Mithram Tarzan series was nice as well.

If you like Manning art, also check out "Magnus, Robot fighter" and the Star Wars strips.

Col.Worobu: Thanks for information Col.,i had asked that friend to send Sunday Strip if he have them.Recently he sent a strip from late 60's in both strip and comical version.Strip,no doubt,is better in quality sans color.
