Thanks, Zaheer.Chanda Mama ki yeh series ----bahut khoob!!!!!
"Jab pakshi hoker yeh mera abhyast ho gaya aur mere bina nahin reh sakta to main manushya hokar bhi kahin iska aadi to nahin ho jaaunga ? Aur is tarah se apney jeevan ka lakshya bhool jaaunga ?
Jeevan ka lakshya to doosron ke liyey jeeney mein hai ---aur yeh gyan mujhey mil gaya hai---Is totey ne meri jaan bachai hai---is ehsaan ka ek hi badla ho sakta hai---ki main isey azad kar doon"
Yeh sochkar sudarshan ne us totey ko uda diya.

Prateek Jain:

Nice post. Shall try to answer the question after Sunday as I still have to read the story. Vikram-Betal stories of Chandamama are one of my most favourite stories in comics/children magazine genres. I sometimes buy new lifeless Chandamama only for the sake of those stories. Although new stories like their parent magazine have lost their vintage charm. Sometimes I wish that Chandamama publishers publish a compendium of Vikram-Betal stories. I would love to have that in my collection. Previously, they used to publish their serialized stories in book form.
In your last post you discussed about stories of Chhotu-Lambu. Yes I agree with you their one-two page stories/features are much better than the full length comics. That is why I always look for old issues of Parag as reading C/B in them is completely a different experience. I have two full length comics but story is so-so and more destroying the fact is I have both of them in English. Poor translation which destroys the story. I am thinking about writing an article on the trnaslation aspect of comics. Little busy nowadays in writing Ist part of my novel. As soon as I shall finish it I shall write the article and forward it to you. I am also a little tired of writing novel nowadays so may be for postponing it for the time being shall write it for forward it you for your reading and for posting it on the blog.
Waiting for the reply of my E-mail. Yes the artist is Shankar. He had drawn some marvelous pictures in Chandamama. His pictures are a treat to eyes.

SB: Vikram-Vetal stories were also my favorites from Chandamama, later when a TV serial on Vikram-Vetal was telecast then these Chandamama Stories were the base behind my liking of that serial too.Can you tell who played the character of Vikram and Vetal in that serial.
So,you are a writer friend!!we were not knowing about this fact before, can we know which novel you are writing and about what.
Any of your article is welcome on CW,pl write and forward it so it can be posted for all comic lovers.

I watched some of the episodes of that serial too. I also liked to some extent but as far Vikram-Betal is concerned Chandamama stories are the best. Some time ago I also read original stories but take my point even original are not as good as Chandamama stories who are based on original. Diamond Comics and some other text based publishers including Dreamlands Publication also ventured into those stories. A version of V/B serail by the same production house was also telecast on Colours but Chandammma stories are the best. DVDs of old serials are now available. Shall discuss about the golden DDs days with you very soon. Thanks for sending me the files. Shall send you the Email of G-mail to you as well. If I fail there as well then shall wait for my PC and inter-net connection.
Yes I am writer if you consider a writer who writes stories, novels, poems etc. but technically you cannot call me a writer but still I have to complete my single book. (Publication is still a distant dream for me.) Since childhoold I am very fond of writing. My essays won a couple of awards at the school level. People appreciate my writing. But as I told you I am lazy by nature and so I started a story but after sometime I lleft it as it is and forgot it. So there were many incomplete stories to my credit. There are 2/3 plots for novels in my mind for the last 10 years but never took pain to jott them down on paper. Several times I wrote poetry on pieces of papers/on blank spaces of newsapers, behind copies and books and even on leaftlets of advertisements. Some of them appreciated at the close circle but never trie to care to them and most of them are lost forever! There are some as well which I created recited in the mehfil of friends but did not care to jott down on paper and forgot later on. Now those who listened it requested to recite it again but only blurred images left and despite my best efforts could not create the same again. Circumstances play a big part on one's life and it is circumstances which directs mood of a creator/writer or a poet and a poem you write on a one particular moment cannot be re-written by you one another occasion in a different mood. So friend I am writer if you still consider me a writer. Now some of my dear ones suggested that I should write in an organized way and try to publish some works. So nowadays trying to jotting down my first plot into a novel. No working title till yet. As soon as I shall finish my first part I shall send you for your opinion. As Lord Krishna said we can do Karma and should not worry about results. I am writing and not aware whether it will be published or not.
Very soon you will find my article on translation of comics/classics and other related books.
Nice Independence Day post.
In a pensive mood at present and so cannot comment appropriately on the example you provided on azadi and so comment on it later in a somewhat happy mood.
Till then.
Jai Hind.

I forgot about the quiz.
Arun Govil - Vikram.
I do not know who played Betal.
Later on in some ads based on the serial actors like Satish Shah and Ravi Baswani played those roles. Do you remember?

Comic World said...

SB: Well,Arun after reading your this comment i must say that there are striking similarities between your and mine reading/writing habits.Same as you i also didn't cared to systematize my written work,i have also written many poetries, short stories and even dared to write a novel too at a tender age of 12 years after being inspired by S.C.Bedi's Rajan Iqbal series novels but stopped after writing few pages only and now only GOD knows that where those pages have been kept by me.
At school level i won accolades for my stories which were used to be publish in school annual magazine but never tried to keep those magazines with me intact and now they are lost for forever. Also have written few poems casually and on some rough notebook which i also didn't cared to keep safely with me and now i myself don't remember those poems.
True,as you mentioned that mood plays a very important part to create some thing classy, sometimes in a proper mood one can easily and smoothly pen down his feeling(read poem/story) flawlessly but in adverse situation it seems a herculean task to even jot down a single line in effective manner.
I would advise you to at least put up your work(novel/story/poems)at blog if not on paper.it will systematize your work as well keep it safe also. You can create your blog or otherwise my(read our) humble blog is always there to be a platform for unleashing creativity of friends.
In that V/B serial the role of Betal was played a renowned character artist "Sajjan Kumar Purohit" aka Sajjan. He has played many character roles in Hindi movies,if you remember movie "Aankhen"(1969)(Dharmendra,Mala Sinha) where he played the role of boss of Sujit Kumar.
