#Belated Wishes and Comic No.66:Outlaws At Sea

First of all a belated but warm wishes for the New Year 2008 to all of you.May this new year be able to make this world a better place to live in.
Talking about the previous year it was of pioneer importance for me as that year brought some major achievements in the field of my hobby of comic reading/collecting. Before the discovery of TCP my comic reading hobby specially of Indrajal was subdued and rusted a bit in the due course of time due to my bread n butter preferences. All that i was having in the name of Indrajal Comics were mere 50-75 odd copies which i managed to collect from my childhood to school days within my stiff financial condition. I was completely unaware of the details such as the total no. of Indrajal comics published by Times of India and was satisfied with my meager collection having impression in mind that around this much only would have been published by Times Of India,i was also unaware about the other facts such as history of Phantom comics and terms such as Sundays/Dailies,Moore/MCcoy/Barry,Frew...
At the advent of parting of 2006 while searching Indrajal comics at net TCP was discovered and a new dimension of comic world specially of Indrajal was unfolded before me and i was amazed and thrilled to find the real and so bright world of Indrajal comics, this was the moment which shook violently the drowsy comic lover in me and it rose in full fury and hunger.Though a collateral mass of comics was available at TCP but in digital form which was insufficient to quench my comic thirst as i always prefer to read comic on paper rather than on PC monitor due to which though i downloaded the comics from TCP but never read them except a few.
After that the search at old book shops began at war level and luckily within few months i was able to collect a considerable amount of comics which currently comprises of more than 600 Indrajal comics out of total published 803 along with quite a considerable no. of multiple copies.
For this first of all i will like to thank those old book vendors from whom i got these priceless gems, after that thanks to friends such as Vikram who helped me in building up the collection through exchanging comics also thanks to a ebay seller through whom i manage to procure hundreds of Indrajals...and the hunt is still on.
There is also a interesting story behind how the 'Comic World' came into existence, what happened that after maintaining a considerable amount of collection i thought naturally to contribute to TCP rather than starting a new blog but when through comments section at TCP i came to know that there was a 'waiting queue' (!!!) for contributing comics.............my enthusiasm died out as i don't wanted to be a part of queue for contributing comic also. Hence there the idea of starting a new blog crept in and after many experiments and observations the blog eventually sailed up and is still moving through.
This blog helped in getting introduced to a new world of comic lovers who share same liking over the comics, who sport the same thought over comics, who debate and sometimes fights also to support their ideas about the theoretically 'imaginary' comical dimensions.
Inspired by TPH,of whose innovative ideas i am a fan,i am putting some of the sketches of mine drawn a long long way back (approximately 15-20 years) when i used to love pencil/pen sketching.

Also here are some of the scan of cover pages of comics which i recently been able to procure

Outlaws at Sea:
The English scans are again from Ajay Misra so all appreciation goes to him...the Hindi cover scan is from CW

Welcome back to comic posting after some gap. Nice write up. I enjoyed it. Also liked your sketches. Is the second one a self portrait?

Comic is nice too. Thanks to Ajay and you.

I think you should say good-bye to comment moderation now. Deletion of any unsuitable comment is always an option and in my opinion a better one.

Thanks for the comic CW. I am amazed that you were able to get so many Ijcs from waste paper outlets! I have only visited a few in Madras. I wonder if I would be so successfull if I went on a full round here. Will do soon and findout.

TPH: Thanks for liking them.Perhaps my art work was not good enough to be get identified.By the way 2nd sketch is of a popular actor who is still very much popular and have gone through steep ups and down of life.Has anybody been able to recognize him via sketch!!!!!
Your opinion is acceptable as it is most of the times....comment moderation disabled.

GC: Scores of IJCs are still lying unidentified and unresponsive at these waste paper outlets, they can be easily accessed provided one should have a attitude and patience to search them.
You may be surprised to know i got more than 200 IJCs at a remote old book shop where they have been lying 'unsold' and 'ignorant' from a period of 2 years. The shop owner,in his view, was very much pleased to get something out of the 'dump'.
Certainly you will be able to find many of them once you pull up your socks tightly in attempt to find them.
I came across with many interesting incidents while searching them..i will sharing some of those in future posts.
