At least a post after a long time...friends comic posting me wo maza nahi aa raha hai....i am not getting the same thrill after posting a comic....reasons might be that nothing new is coming on..same comic posting, same few words from few old regulars only(some of oldies are absent too..Col. where are you!!).Nothing sort of creative going on,no detailed comic discussions,no nostalgic inputs from readers........!!
Anyway few days back when i was turning pages of Illustrated Weeklies i came through some of the nostalgic strips/ads,which refreshed some old memories.I am putting them here hoping that they are worth watching.
This is Hubert and Dennis the Menace strip....
This is beetle bailey and our Phantom....
These are the some of the ads which please the eyes...
Faishonbaaz Elpar......
See these........
Any takers of Sad Sack comics.......!!!!
Now some talk over cricket as cricket (IPL) fever is gripping India, can you tell in how many and what ways a batsman can be given out in Test cricket!!!!
One interesting incident!...A women cricket county match was being played in Denmark when a new bats(wo)man asked for a runner citing reason that she was 5 months pregnant.
Umpire clearly followed the rules and denied her for the same quoting that she didn't became pregnant 'during the course' of this very match, hence can't be allowed for a runner!!!!
*****************************************************************************************************************
Lastly a appeal, friends i am having lots of spare Indrajals,Phantom/Mandrake Diamond Digests,Egmont Phantom comics which i wish to swap/exchange with Hindi/English Indrajals..
means i need preferably Hindi Indrajals below # 300 and i can give English Indrajal in lieu of them.Anybody interested may please contact at comik.world@gmail.com

I am right here, CW my friend! My PC MoBo had gotten fried and it took a month to get a new one and get back on the net.
Those ads are way cool. A marvelous time capsule to relive old times :o)
Yep, I am a big fan of Sad Sack and the Sarge as well.
BTW, what was the date of this issue?
Col.: Its nice to see you back, well the ads were not from a single issue rather then from several issues.Due to the large size of the pages of IW i couldn't scan the bottom of the page where the issue date information is given.
CW, come on!!! Don't lose heart - these vintage ads were good to see. The 'Jaggu dada' ad was amazing - he used to be so young! The pregnancy appeal was amazing - if the umpire were someone like Bucknor, I am sure he would have allowed the 'pregnant lady' to get a runner - but only if the lady were a Caucasian.
Actually I just wanted the date of the issue of the Phantom strip if you have it :o)
Nlce eff0rt,CW....want t0 see a c0mic s00n.
C0l......ya are s0 f0nd 0f ads m0re than c0mlcs,what ls lt that drives ya?l have always w0ndered.
d0 ya keep the cuttings?
anyway lts a unique liking.
Adi: Yeah 'Jaggu Dada' use to be pretty young once upon a time.Infact he was the first macho man of the film industry.
Col: This Phantom strip page has been already posted before at CW itself and in that post the date of issue is clearly mentioned. You can check that post in which many IW Phantom strips were posted.
Btw do you have some IW too..!!
Chandan, the ads and the comics together are a fascination for me, It's not that I like one more than the other :o)
CW: Unfortunately I do not have any of the Ill weeklys with me. Fortunately for me, you do! :o)
CW i am posting my thanx out here for finally uploading a comic in ACK. dude i am not able to post my comments there as i dont have a google account, so it would be great if you do do the changes to the ACK blog as you have out here where in people who dont have google accont or open ID can still leave a comment. infact thats one of the main reasons why the comments suddenly stopped coming to ACK.
any wahy thank u once again and yes there sure is one taker for sad sack comics :) so do upload them.

Chandan: Ads ka apna alag hi maza hai.. specially of old ads,can anyone forget the Gold Spot Ad at the back cover of IJCs.
Col.: I didn't read any of IW when it was still in publication as at that time i was not having any affinity towards politics or current affairs because of my young age,but now when a few months back i happen to buy around 70+ IW i am enjoying reading them very much.
The articles by Raju Bhartan,Khushwant Singh, the mega ads spread in XL page size and other articles..all are a worth joy to read.
Masayo: Thanks for the words.Anonymous comment is enabled for ACK blog, you can now post your comment there without having a google account.
Sad Sack comics are available on a comic link on Grouchy's Blog, pls check there if you want Sad Sack and other comics.
Great to have you back, CW. Thought you've gone into hibernation like the others.
Thanks for the IW scans. They bring back memories of those large pages. Among the ads posted, only Krackjack is around today.
Deb: You are welcome friend.Hibernation is not a planned act, whenever comic posting joy recedes the gap between posts take place.
Anyway i will try to post few but some worthy good.
